Our Story
Beyond Words Creative began with a simple idea:

What if the magic of a story could help children understand one another a little better?
Founded by Jo, a parent to an autistic, non-verbal child, Beyond Words was born from a deeply personal place. Our flagship book, Harvey’s Silent Discovery, celebrates the beauty and power of non-verbal communication—and it all started with Jo’s wish to help other children see the world through Harvey’s eyes.
As a parent, navigating the uncertainty of how the world will treat your non-verbal child can feel overwhelming. But if we can help future generations understand, connect with, and include non-verbal children more easily, that’s something truly meaningful.
Since launching Harvey’s Silent Discovery, Beyond Words Creative has grown into a vibrant studio creating inclusive books, teacher-friendly lesson plans, and empowering visual resources for classrooms and families. And we’re just getting started.
