🏆 Beyond Inclusion Award Winner 2026

The Beyond Inclusion Book Awards recognise children’s books that support empathy, accessibility and understanding of difference through meaningful and engaging storytelling for young readers.
The Adventures of Lady Mouse and Wolfy: Beach Day Bother has been selected as the Beyond Inclusion Award Winner 2026 for its thoughtful exploration of worry, routine and sensory needs within a relatable friendship narrative.
Through Wolfy’s experiences navigating concerns such as noise on public transport and discomfort with tactile environments, the story gently introduces readers to differences in how individuals may experience everyday situations. Importantly, these needs are presented without judgement and are met with understanding and reassurance by Lady Mouse.
This modelling of peer support provides children with an accessible framework for recognising and responding positively to difference in real life contexts, making the story particularly suitable for use in:
• Early Years educational settings
• PSHE or wellbeing discussions
• Inclusive classroom reading corners
• Family conversations around emotions and routine
The narrative promotes empathy and encourages young readers to consider how small acts of support can make shared experiences more comfortable for everyone involved.

📚 About the Awards
The Beyond Inclusion Book Awards were created to shine a light on children’s stories that truly matter, stories that reflect difference with care, spark empathy, and help children feel seen and understood.
As a parent-led organisation working closely with nurseries, schools, and families, we’ve seen firsthand the power of inclusive storytelling. These awards were born from a belief that the right book at the right time can change how a child sees themselves and others.
Each year, we honour one outstanding book that champions inclusion in a meaningful way, and share it widely across our network of educators, families, and settings. This isn’t just a badge, it’s a platform to help your story reach the children who need it most.
